EPI Geophysics can locate missing monitoring wells that have been accidentally or intentionally buried in all types of ground surfaces for environmental clients. Recently, EPI Geophysics was contracted to locate a monitoring well that had been paved over with asphalt in a parking lot at a commercial property in Mount Holly, New Jersey.
The top of the well head, thought to be located just under the asphalt, was actually located at a top depth of about 10” below the asphalt using ground penetrating radar (GPR). The location of the well head was confirmed with the use of a metal detector. The well was filled in with bentonite and abandoned.
